Facilitator’s Guide
One of the four sacred elements of the earth is water. Indigenous peoples have honoured their relationship with water for hundreds of years through ceremony and stories. Its life-giving and life-saving qualities are recognized as essential to all living things: animal and plant. Without water, every living thing would not be able to survive.
A plumber must know how to measure, whether it is measuring a length of pipe or measuring for a fitting. It is essential that a plumber knows how to attach two pieces of pipe together.
Learning about fractions is an important part of math for plumbers.
This Facilitator’s Guide accompanies the Numeracy at Work - Plumber -Working with Fractions Student Work Book.

Preparing Indigenous learners for Apprenticeship and Employment
There are 5 booklets in the Numeracy at Work series. The booklets are designed for learners entering an apprenticeship program or preparing for the workforce. Learners are encouraged to complete a booklet in a career they are interested in or they could try all the booklets to investigate what careers interest them. Every booklet concentrates on math concepts and skills needed in a chosen career.
The OALCF are the guidelines used to establish math concepts and skills at Level 1 and Level 2, as some career paths are more advanced learning of math concepts.
